↵VEX Assembler problems or crashes can be caused by a number of different underlying causes, depending on individual system specs, performance, and configuration. The following tips have been successful with things like startup crashes or black screens in the workspace:
- Make sure you've installed the correct version for your computer, 32- or 64- bit. See this Microsoft article if you're unsure how to determine your system type.
- Enable VEX Assembler to run in Windows Vista or XP compatibility mode. Right-click the program icon, select "Properties", select the "Compatibility" tab, check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", and choose "Windows Vista" or "Windows XP" from the drop-down box.
- Disable autoswitching on systems with multiple GPUs or a "low-power" mode (e.g. nVidia Optimus or other laptops with integrated graphics). This is a setting that can usually be found in your graphics control panel or properties, and may vary from system to system.
- On systems with the ability to set graphics profiles (some nVidia cards), set VEX Assembler to run in "compatibility" graphics mode.
