The 2016-17 season is now underway and events are popping up around the world for teams to compete in VEX IQ Challenge Crossover and VEX Robotics Competition Starstruck. The REC Foundation encourages all teams to review the game manual updates that were shared on shared on August 17th and specifically review the updated Skills Challenge information. VEX Robotics World Championship April 19-25, 2017 The VEX Robotics World Championship, now entering its 10th year, will bring together the top 1,400 student-led robotics teams from around the world to Louisville, Kentucky, on April 19-25, 2017. The new dates mark a dramatic program change to provide teams with a superior event experience as they compete in the largest and fastest growing international robotics programs. The new revised schedule is as follows: VEX Robotics Competition and VEX U will open to middle school, high school, and university teams on Wednesday, April 19, and culminate with finals, awards, and a team party at Kentucky Kingdom on Saturday, April 22. The VEX IQ Challenge will open to elementary school and middle school teams on Sunday, April 23, and culminate with finals, awards, and a team party at Kentucky Kingdom on Tuesday, April 25. Girl Powered: October 11, International Day of the Girl The REC Foundation launched Girl Powered, in collaboration with VEX Robotics, Inc., to double the number of girls on robotics teams over the next 5 years. To kick-start our effort, the REC Foundation invites teams and Event Partners to host a Girl Powered workshop, open house, or outreach activity on October 11 to coincide with the International Day of the Girl. The type of activity you host is up to you, but to help you in your planning we've posted a sample event schedule.
